Happy Birthday William!

I just love birthday sessions!!  And one year birthdays are a HUGE reason to celebrate.  Think of all the wonderful things a child accomplish in just one short year…

They learn to hold their head up, sit up, crawl and sometimes walk all before 1 year!

They learn to smile and laugh and usually say a few words like momma and dadda and hi and bye-bye!

And think how much they’ve grown!!   Seemed like I was always buying my kids new clothes!!!!

They go from a diet of milk to eating tons of different foods!

Yes, there sure is a lot to celebrate!!

And William sure knows how to celebrate! 

Um, yeah!  Now we’re talking!!!!

Fun With Photography!

So…  A photography forum that I frequent has been having photo challenges using items found around the house.  I’ve done this in the past…  but admittedly, it’s been several years since I’ve done this kind of photography.  It’s been fun!

The first challenge was CANDY!  And I Loooooove chocolate!!!!  And what woman doesn’t?! 

When I created this photo, I was thinking I might as well create one that I could add to my stock portfolio so I went with a theme – chocolate and sugar!! 

The next challenge was Legos!  The funny thing about this challenge…  I discovered I was completely Lego challenged!!  I sat there and dug through the Legos for quite sometime my mind completely blank as to what to do with them….  Finally I found a few Legos that kind of went together.  Because it was such a simple lego set-up, I knew I was going to have to get creative with my lighting and my Photoshop skills!

And the last one we’ve had so far is Glass.  I remembered doing a lemon dropping into a glass shot a few years ago…  but I wanted to do a better one and so, this is what I came up with.

For this photo – timing was everything!  I have several misses!!!

Goose Balls

These are my absolute FAVORITE cookies!  My grandmother used to make them for us when we were kids – with one exception…  she rolled them in coconut.  I really don’t like coconut – but these cookies were soooo good I would eat them in spite of the coconut!  When I asked my grandmother for the recipe and I confessed to not liking coconut she told me to roll them in powdered sugar instead.  Oooooohhh!  They are AMAZING!

So, here’s the recipe:

In a medium sauce pan stir together 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup chopped unsweetened dates, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 beaten egg.  Cook over medium heat until boiling.  Cool slightly and add 1/3 cup chopped pecans and 2 cups Rice Krispies.  Roll into powdered sugar or coconut.  Cool on waxed paper.  ENJOY!!!!!

It’s no secret – I love wall portraits!  Frequently when talking with clients they often say they don’t have the wall space for wall portraits.  But that usually just isn’t the case…

 

Can you imagine a portrait any smaller than this 16×20 over the sofa?  And without the wall decorations, even a 16×20 portrait would be lost on a wall this size!

Wall groupings are another great alternative!  These two 12×18 prints side by side make for a great pair!

Impromptu Session

Genesis always adorable, got herself dressed for the day, found Jessica’s glasses and struck a pose…  or several poses!  A quick, colorful and fun session!

Beautiful Fall Day

Sunday afternoon I took Amber out for her senior pictures.  It was a beautiful fall day – making for some extra colorful portraits! 

These next two pictures were taken in Amber’s backyard!  We made use of the playground set that she played on as a kid!

It was Amber’s idea to take some portraits with pumpkins.  I LOVE IT!!!

In spite of the beautiful fall colors, I always include some classic black and whites!
